There’s an interesting and thought provoking video available on Youtube called “Did You Know”. The video provides a unique perspective on how the world’s population, the amount of data, and educational technology are rapidly changing. One of the greatest challenges for educators is to keep pace with changes in technology.
After viewing this video, I feel that educators have to be aware of constantly changing data and information. Educators have to review the information that they are providing to students in the classroom and consider whether the information will change in the near future. As demonstrated in the video, educators can tell students what will be the anticipated level of change in 2 years, 5 years, or some other timeframe that has a significant value to students and the material being presented.
Another implication from the video is that rapid changes in technology can influence how learning occurs in schools. For example, a recent study of nursing programs indicates that there is a shift away from traditional classroom lectures towards more hands-on and student-centric learning using simulations and virtual reality technology. In every educational field, administrators and teachers must anticipate changes in technology and maintain pace in order to avoid wasting valuable resources and allowing their technology to become outdated.
